Embark on the 5-day Salkantay Trek, a world-class alternative to the Inca Trail. Cross the 4,600 m Salkantay Pass, descend through cloud forests, and arrive at Machu Picchu via Aguas Calientes—an epic journey through glaciers, jungles, and ancient Inca paths.
Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco → Mollepata → Soraypampa camp (3,860 m) → Short acclimatization hike to Humantay Lake.
Day 2: Soraypampa → Salkantay Pass (4,600 m) → Descend to Chaullay (2,900 m) camp.
Day 3: Chaullay → Cloud forest descent to La Playa → Lunch at Lucmabamba farm → Camp by river.
Day 4: Lucmabamba → Llactapata Inca site (2,700 m) → Train to Aguas Calientes → Evening free.
Day 5: Early bus to Machu Picchu → Guided tour → Return train and transfer to Cusco.
