Embark on a seven-day MTB expedition across Arequipa’s volcanic ring, riding from 2,300 m base elevations up to rocky lava fields near 5,400 m. Discover desert plateaus, high-altitude lakes, and volcanic landscapes on challenging singletrack.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Arequipa → Bike fit and safety check → 10 km city loop.
Day 2: Ride through Salinas y Aguada Blanca Reserve (3,800 m) → Camp near lagoon.
Day 3: High-altitude climb to Chiguata (4,200 m) → Lava field descent.
Day 4: Cross volcanic valleys to Pichu Pichu bases (4,600 m) → Camp under the crater rim.
Day 5: Summit ridge ride of Pichu Pichu slopes → Descend to oasis camp.
Day 6: Transfer to Misti base → Uphill shuttle + downhill technical runs (up to 5,000 m).
Day 7: Final desert plateau ride → Return to Arequipa and celebratory dinner.
