Summit the iconic El Misti volcano just outside Arequipa in a week-long challenge tailored for fit trekkers. Traverse Andean foothills, volcanic slopes, and arid plateaus before a pre-dawn summit ascent to 5,822 m, rewarded by sunrise views over the white city and surrounding peaks.
Itinerary
Day 1: Pickup in Arequipa → Transfer to base camp at 3,300 m → Short acclimatization trek → Camp setup.
Day 2: Hike to intermediate camp (4,200 m) → Gear check and altitude briefing.
Day 3: Rest day with light hikes around base camp for further acclimatization.
Day 4: Trek to high camp (4,800 m) → Prepare gear and early rest.
Day 5: Midnight summit push → Reach crater rim at 5,822 m for sunrise → Descend to base camp.
Day 6: Leisurely return to Arequipa → Celebrate with local cuisine.
Day 7: Optional city tour or free day in Arequipa.
